London, One Week In.

So, it's been a week since we landed. And we've done so much it seems like we've been here a year!
For the first time in a long time though we feel at home. I think I truly felt like this on Thursday. Laura had just completed her first day at work, I had spent the day running around town with various real estate agents, and we were finally back at our little flat. We sat on the bed with our dinner and watched Doctor Who. We were home.
But I'm jumping ahead of myself.
Lets start with where we are living: Willesden Green. Also known as NW10 2NX. We arrived on a rainy London morning. The place was great, as small as a toenail and twice as cute.
After an afternoon of unpacking and finding places for thing, we headed into the city. Leicester Square was the destination, to have dinner at Chiquitos. The fabled restaurant that Mum and Dad used to frequent during there time here.

The rest of the weekend was a blur. Come Monday and it was get-up-early-and-dress-for-work. I spent the day job hunting, signing up for production emails, and getting the ball rolling on boring stuff like tax numbers. Meanwhile Laura was sorting her teaching, and finalising the details ready for her meeting the the teaching agency.

This is how the rest of our week played out. Emailing, ringing, sorting, researching. Turns out there is a lot to do when starting a new life! Although we were quite ready for a barrage of paperwork and forms.

Considering we have only been here one week I think we have done quite well, and a hell of a lot. So far Laura has already had her first day at work (that's a story for another blog), sorted her agency details, and signed up with a tax company. As well as collect her BRP (Biometric Residence Permit), which is sort of like a passport saying that she is a UK resident.
I on the other hand have applied for about 20 media jobs, been shown around seven different potential flats, put an offer on one of them for the hell of it, won that offer, declined that offer, got a job as a cycle delivery man, and have a interview to be a promo person; like one of those guys that you seen in the mall dressed as a lipstick!

On top of this we have of course done London things. We are mostly familiar with the 'big name' areas; Trafalgar Square, Leicester Square, Regent Street, Oxford Street, Notting Hill. And every day we find new little nooks and crannies.
We have found ourselves nonchalantly walking across the famous Abbey Road zebra crossing on our way to The Tube. Riding the front seat at the top of multiple double decker busses. Mastering the Underground. Getting rained on. Getting rained on again. In fact, it's quite a rainy place London. Who would have known!

So overall our first week has been great. We are certainly getting the hang of life over here. There is still a lot to sort out before we can truly relax, but we are taking it one day at a time.

This week marks eight days before Laura's birthday, no coincidence that there are eight Harry Potter films. I think week two in London is going to be a good one, at least one full of mischief anyway.

This is the first thing we saw after emerging from our first Underground ride.

'Bubbles' laundromat, above this is our home for the next two months.

Zebra crossing outside Abbey Road Studios.

Laura decided that we should wear face masks.
Something about keeping our faces hydrated in the cold? I blame Zoella!

Just some cheeky squashes at Wholefoods.

Notting Hill. What more can I say.

It's cold in London, but that doesn't matter when you look this good!
Hello Tower Bridge. What's up?
Probably your walkway... that's what's up.
